What you will be doing
You’ll shape and manage our data landscape, ensuring it’s secure, scalable, and aligned to business goals. Working with teams across the organisation, you’ll design modern data architectures, strengthen governance, and drive adoption of analytics, AI, and Microsoft Fabric. You will also lead and develop a small team, fostering best practice and high performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing enterprise‑level data architectures, models, and integration patterns.
- Leading data governance, data quality, security, and compliance (GDPR & FCA).
- Working closely with the Lead Data Engineer to build and optimise solutions across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and cloud platforms.
- Enabling data integration and analytics, including self‑service reporting.
- Embedding AI/ML opportunities while ensuring responsible‑use frameworks.
- Leading and coaching a team (up to 4 direct reports), supporting delivery and development.
- Monitoring system health, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement.
- Translating business needs into practical, scalable data solutions.
What we are looking for
We’re looking for a forward‑thinking Data Architect with strong technical depth and the ability to influence, collaborate, and lead. You’ll have experience designing cloud‑based architectures, driving governance, and enabling analytics in a regulated environment while supporting the growth of a high‑performing data team.
You’ll need:
- Strong understanding of data architecture and cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience in data governance, security, GDPR, and regulated‑sector compliance.
- Proven ability to design scalable data models, pipelines, and integration frameworks.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Copilot, metadata standards, and SaaS data environments.
- Experience with AI/ML concepts, deployment, and responsible AI practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Ability to lead, develop, and inspire a small team.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience; Microsoft or industry certifications desirable.
